| Divorce Law India has traditionally had one of the lowest divorce rates in the world – only one marriage in a hundred ends in divorce, compared to one in three in the UK. But things are changing. In Delhi alone the number of divorces has doubled in five years. In Bangalore, it tripled in five years. One reason for the rise is that a growing number of working women with independent incomes are refusing to submit to their husbands' more traditional views of marriage.
